Responsibilities
Design
Utilized Solidworks to design unique impact and cushioning solutions utilizing SKYDEX patented technologies. This included part and tooling design for both prototype and production.
Collaborated with in house business development as well as customers to determine product requirements and aesthetic design.
Development
Responsible for product development process from ideation through commercialization.
Created and managed documentation including product requirements, technical drawings, BOMs, manufacturing instructions, and quality requirements.
Innovation
Worked as part of cross-functional engineering team to develop and test innovative impact and cushioning solutions for performance military, outdoor, and sports applications.
Collaborated with in house manufacturing team to develop innovative manufacturing methods, tooling, and processes.
Testing
Performed in house testing including impact, compression, tensile, durability and chemical compatibility.
Worked with 3rd party test facilities to source certification testing when necessary. This included UV, fungal, and impact.
Responsible for documenting, writing, and managing test reports as necessary.
Manufacturing
Collaborated closely with in-house manufacturing team and resources to line out processes and ensure performance and quality requirements were met.
Worked closely with contract manufacturing partners to manage lead times and ensure product requirements were met.
Quality
Worked closely with the operations, manufacturing and quality departments to determine, document, and monitor product quality requirements.
Executed and reported internal audits per ISO 9001:2008 & 2015 requirements.
Projects
Bomb Disposal Suit
In collaboration with industry leading manufacturer of protective equipment, developed high performance impact absorption components used in bomb disposal suit.
Boat Decking
Engineered and developed new boat decking mats utilizing SKYDEX's patented technology to reduce impact and fatigue experienced on rough waves. Products were used on both commercial and military vehicles.
Motorcycle PPE
Prototyped and tested innovative back protector designed to pass EN1621-2 impact standard while being lighter and retaining less heat than competitor products.
Construction PPE
Designed and tested impact reducing layer for gloves used in construction environments.  Gloves were tested to the EN13594 standard.
Footwear Cushioning
Worked on team developing innovative energy absorbing midsole for performance footwear. Solution provided increased energy return and eliminated the gluing stage of assembly by utilizing innovative manufacturing process.
Anti Fatigue Mat
Designed and developed energy absorbing layer used in anti-fatigue mat on standing forklift truck. Mat reduced impact and vibration by up to 25% versus the standard option.
